Kwame Kilpatrick Update
Comments 0 | Recommend 0DETROIT (AP) _ A spokeswoman for Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick says there's been no decision on whether he will testify at hearings that could lead to his removal from office.
Denise Tolliver said Tuesday there's a concern that testimony could be used against Kilpatrick in his criminal cases.
Tolliver was quoted Monday as saying the mayor wouldn't testify in the proceedings.
Gov. Jennifer Granholm has scheduled a hearing Sept. 3 on the Detroit City Council's request to remove the mayor for misconduct.
The council has its own proceeding planned trying to oust Kilpatrick.
The mayor is charged in two cases. One focuses on the truthfulness of his testimony at a civil trial. The other is related to an encounter with two investigators who were trying to serve a subpoena.
